Islam in our Country – How do we respond – OM presentation

Islam in our Country – How do we respond – OM presentation

Whether they be students from Saudi Arabia or refugees from Iran, Afghanistan of Somalia the numbers of Muslim people living in Australia is increasing. As Christians how should we respond to this trend? Should we be fearful or is this an opportunity? Andrew (OM Qld) and Tillman will be sharing about this work. Tillman has worked with Operation Mobilisation amongst Muslim people in Sydney of over 11 years. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Islam, some of the challenges of ministering to Muslim people and also to be inspired by what God is doing amongst these people groups. We would love to see you there.

Operation Santa

Help someone in need!

UnitingCare and Target have joined forces again for the 21st year of Operation Santa – The UnitingCare Christmas Appeal. This appeal runs from 8 November to 23 December.

This year the Operation Santa team is reminding people throughout Australia that ‘a little gift makes a big difference.’ The simple gesture of donating a gift, no matter how small, will go a long way towards making Christmas brighter for someone in need.

Help us replace the children in the picture with gifts this Christmas. Not all children are as lucky as these children and many won’t receive anything this Christmas. Help us to brighten the lives of many on Christmas morning.

How to make a donation:

Simply place an unwrapped gift under the red Operation Santa Christmas tree located in any Target or Target Country store around Australia. Alternatively, purchase a gift card at any store register.

People are encouraged to DONATE EARLY so that UnitingCare representatives can ensure the gifts and gift cards are distributed in time for Christmas.

If you would like anymore information please ask any Target staff member or Jean Pyle at Granite News who is organising this appeal on behalf of the Uniting Church.

One more flight for Steve.

Recently Steve Flood returned once more to London almost 70 years after he flew as a wartime gunner.

Steve was named to travel to London for the official commemorative mission to be held to recognise the service of Australians who served with Bomber Command during the Second World War.

Another highlight of his trip to England will be a war museum visit where he will be reunited with the Lancaster aircraft in which he flew – affectionately called S Is For Sugar.

Sometimes need a ride to Church?

A list of alternative phone numbers has been prepared for those people who currently get a ride to church each week.  If for some reason the person who normally brings you to church cannot provide transport for you, then you can ring one of the people on the list and arrange for them to pick you up.  If you do not already have a list of these numbers, please see one of the Stewards.
